About Prem Rawat
Born in India, Prem Rawat, widely known by the honorary title Maharaji, began speaking about peace at a very young age. As a child, he astounded and delighted audiences with his wisdom and ability to shed light on some of life's deepest mysteries.
At the age of thirteen, Prem Rawat’s message of peace had reached beyond his native India, and he was invited for the first time to travel to the West to address audiences in London and Los Angeles. This was the beginning of over four decades of nearly non-stop travel throughout the world, touching the lives of millions of people as he spoke to audiences both large and small.
His message is simple yet profound. He explains, “In the heart of every human being is also a want. A wish to be content, a wish to be in peace. Peace is not absence of war. Peace is a fundamental human need that needs to be felt from within. It is from the hearts of human beings that peace can be created. We may look different, we may speak differently, but we have the same fundamental needs.”
Not affiliated with any religion, political view, ideology, or philosophy, Prem Rawat's message has resonated deeply in the hearts of millions of people, giving them a fresh perspective and renewed joy in life. People everywhere—old and young, educated and uneducated, rich and poor — have reported benefiting from following Prem Rawat's advice to look within themselves for the peace and contentment they are seeking.
In 2001, Prem Rawat started The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF), which addresses the fundamental human needs of food, water, and peace so that people everywhere can live their lives with dignity, peace, and prosperity. You can learn more about Prem Rawat's message of peace on Words of Peace Global, via television broadcasts, and online audio-visual materials.
In 2004, he envisioned the TPRF model program called Food for People, which now has two successful facilities, one in India and the other in Nepal, with one more under construction in Ghana. When people are in need of help, he says, “our objective is to help them through the rough times without interfering with the beautiful things that exist in their culture, their beliefs, or their religion. When we offer a hand of help, it is on equal ground. We try to lend a hand with respect for each person as a human being.”
